Willow Pond Counseling: What’s in a Name?
In homage to my grandmother, who always managed to find the light and laughter in life, I chose the name “Willow Pond” after the road she lived on when I was a child. I count many peaceful hours sitting at my grandmother’s table feeling safe, secure, and completely supported. My “Gram” had an ability to listen fully and clearly see those around her. As a counselor, I bring the tools I learned from my grandmother into session in order to provide you with a safe and inviting place to be heard and supported.
Willow + Pond Symbolism
The symbolism behind both the willow tree and the pond are wonderfully apt as well:
Willow Tree symbolism: The willow tree symbolizes flexibility and adaptability. The limber branches of the willow tree allow it to bend to accommodate and withstand strong winds and bad weather, making it symbolic of humans’ capability to withstand hardship, loss, and difficulty. Like a willow, we can learn to bend but not break.
Pond symbolism: It is said that a therapist should be a “still pond”, reflecting our clients so they may see themselves. Seeing yourself through the eyes of another can be a powerful and illuminating experience.
